Can I leave my contract because of the April 2027 price rise?

Usually not for free. Since 17 January 2025, Ofcom has required any rise in a new contract to be set out in pounds and pence before you sign. A rise written into your contract like that is not a reason to leave without an exit fee. If your provider raises your price by more than your contract allows, or your contract only says prices "may change" (Sky and NOW, for example), you must get notice and the right to leave without a penalty.

Why does my rise depend on when I signed up?

Providers have changed the amount several times since Ofcom's rules came in. Virgin Media customers who joined between 9 January and 2 October 2025 have a £3.50 rise, for example, while later joiners have £4. Plusnet, EE and TalkTalk have similar groups. Contracts signed before the change may still use a percentage such as CPI + 3.9%.

When will Sky announce its 2027 price rise?

Sky usually announces in February, ahead of a 1 April change. Its 2026 rise was £3 a month. Because Sky's contracts do not set an amount, customers in their minimum term can leave without an exit fee when the rise is announced. We update this page on the day Sky publishes its figure.

Is it cheaper to switch now or wait until my contract ends?

If you are still in contract, leaving early usually means an exit fee for the months left, so the cheapest time to move is normally the month your contract ends. If you are already out of contract, you can switch now with 30 days' notice and no exit fee.

Which broadband providers do not raise prices during the contract?

Connect Fibre advertises its prices as fixed for 24 months, and Zen Internet has a Contract Price Promise. Zzoomm has no April rise, but its price goes up £4 from month 13, so we include that in its total. Always read the price wording on the order page before you buy.

How do I find my contract start date and price?

Your contract summary, welcome email or provider app shows both. A recent bill shows what you pay now. Enter today's price, including any rise you have already had, and the checker works out the next one.

Broadband price rises in April 2027

Most big UK broadband providers raise prices by £3.50 to £4 a month on 31 March or 1 April 2027 for customers who joined in the last year. BT, EE and Plusnet rise £4.00 on 31 March. Virgin Media and TalkTalk rise £4.00 on 1 April. Vodafone rises £3.50 on 1 April. Sky and NOW Broadband haven't announced a 2027 amount. The rise depends on when you signed up, so the checker below works out your exact new bill. Checked on providers' own websites, 28 October 2026.

How we check these figures

Each in-contract price rise is read from the provider's own price-change page, price guide or deal page. Every entry records the page, a quoted line and the date we checked it. Amounts depend on when the customer joined or re-contracted, so each provider lists its sign-up groups. Where a provider has not published an amount we say so and never estimate it as fact.

A script re-reads every source page each week and flags any change for a person to confirm before it goes live. Each row shows its check date; after 30 days it is marked “may have changed”. Prices on the switching deals come from the same weekly price checks as the rest of the site.
